Today’s walk to satisfy my New Year’s resolution to take a walk of at least 30 minutes a day took place at Ann Arbor’s Gallup Park. Duration was a little more than an hour, and the miles covered were an estimated 2.6 miles. Weather conditions were overcast and chilly – but bearable – with minimal winds and temps in single digits – below 10 degrees when accounting for wind chill.

This is the best shot I got – believe it or not!
All of those boring “for the record” details aside – the REAL excitement was bearing witness to a rodent rumble! We were enjoying watching the squirrels run around like Legolas from The Lord of the Rings atop the snow, unlike us lumbering humans – who have to trudge comically through snow with our heavy insulated boots. Those bastards!

Outdoor ice hockey, anyone? Figure skating? Curling?
Right after taking a picture of a cleared area of pond used for an ice rink, my walking partner Mike said he could see (and hear) two squirrels going at each other’s throats. A squirrel squabble! We knew it wasn’t the right season for this to be some kind of twisted mating ritual, and knew that squirrels weren’t the types of animals to have “friends.”
