A full recap of today’s Sporcle Live League Championship will be published here on Sunday. Two teams – Average Joe’s – and What the Shibboleth – were tied for first, a trivia host named Kat is telling me the two teams just split the prize between themselves rather than duke out the tiebreaker.
Here are the other “money” finishers in today’s Central division game:
5. Homoerotic Trivia Montage, 128, $100
4. One is the Loneliest Number, 129, $150
3. Teamy McTeamface, 131, $250
2. $750
1. $1,250
As for those of you curious about how my team did, we were tied for 17th out of 37 teams going into the final with 78 points and got the final question correct, thanks to Evan. This was ALL him. You should have SEEN him when he was waiting for the scores to be read! We finished with 108 points, which was not enough to put us in the “money” zone, as it were (too many big point flubs…that Schoolhouse Rock question made us want to throw ourselves on the track at Conjunction Junction while a speeding train was coming in, LOL).

Death by a speeding conjunction train is how I want to go! 🙂
Seriously, I didn’t feel THAT bad about blowing 10 points on that! Moods were high all around on this gloomy, rainy day. It was nice qualifying for a tournament we weren’t trying too hard to get to, it was nice seeing teams qualifying for a Sporcle finals for a first time (Let’s Get It), nice seeing This is Sparta get to a tournament after qualifying for it outright on their own (I can’t say enough about how much this team has been through these past few months), I enjoyed boppin’ to the ’80s tunes (pointing out all of the sexual innuendoes to Evan, LOL) and best part of all…I LOVED having a table close to the bathroom! I loved even more that as a female, there was a MUCH shorter wait to use the john! I really should’ve taken pictures of the long line of dudes waiting to get into the restroom (hey I have SOME taste)!
What I loved even more than not waiting to use a toilet was not having to beg any players to join us this time. Thanks David, Brad, Mike and Evan for playing today. Our teamwork was pretty good, bickering was kept to a bare minimum…and no one was murdered for being super sure that a word was a proper noun instead of a pronoun even though it… wasn’t. Ahem…on that note!
What I love most of all? Being in a good mood after a tournament where we didn’t win any money. Far cry from how I felt leaving that tournament at Aubree’s in South Lyon last August (you would have found more cheer in a graveyard, to quote Gimli from The Lord of the Rings). I’ve worked hard to try to take this whole “trivia” thing a lot more easy, so as to not allow it to take a toll on my mental health. The struggle is real…but I think I’m in a good place! I’ve done all of this through self-reflection and force of will… NO meds! I’ve had to have some real… tough conversations with myself, let’s put it that way! I can’t say enough about how supportive and awesome the other people on my team have been over the years.
Check in Sunday for a full recap. We are done with our tournament shenanigans for the year, though a “spectating” trip to a MTL semifinal is NOT out of the question (weather permitting)! As always, Go Pods!
