Though I’ve had this blog site since 2011, my “unofficial” blog began in 2012 when I made a fan page for my trivia team Miskatonic University Fighting Cephalopods. There, I posted updates about my team and recaps of pub trivia games. And it developed quite a following! I can’t tell you how many folks I met while serving as an admin for the page. The trivia “blogs” evolved over the years from detached third person accounts to the more “personal” ones you see today.
One of my earliest page followers was a guy on a rival trivia team who used a pseudonym as his screen name. Actually, a couple of my early page followers matched this description! We were also friends on Facebook, and we would occasionally chat about…trivia. Then he disappeared from Facebook, as did another longtime page follower. I didn’t know him well, so no big! People come and go from your life right?
Last July, this guy kind of popped into my life again. He showed up to an ’80s movies trivia night and said “Are you guys the ‘Pods?” Yes…yes we are!
Last week this guy “liked” my trivia page. Again. Using a different pseudonym (one more closely resembling his “real” name).
Good to have another page “stalker!” I have really enjoyed the whole “trivia blogging” experience. Sad thing about this blog site is that it doesn’t allow for much interaction with readers. Maybe I will need to upgrade this page? Will have to look into it!
