I’ve played eight total games at Original Gravity Brewing Company during this current season. Though only four have been “on the books.” I knew that if I tried playing “for reals” here this season, I would try winning a tournament spot at the end. I’m a competitive beast at my core. And I…just didn’t want to do it this time around. I have my reasons! That said, I’ve still tracked every single one of my scores from these eight games, and they all total up to 766 points – or about 95.75 average points per night (based on 1-3 players on average per game). That’s actually a higher “average” score than the second place team This Is Sparta, with an average of 91.7 points per night. Mind the Gap (aka Big Heads Big Hearts, which is their league name) are in the top spot with 1,362 points with a 113.5 points per night average. Can you totally tell I used to be in a bowling league? Yes I was! But that’s not important right now!
Based on my “average” score per night I SHOULD be sitting at about 1,149 total points, which would put me in third in the overall standings. Which is about on par with where I was in the last “full” season I played on the books here.
Me and my team being out of the equation – for the most part – this season made a HUGE difference in total league points! Mind the Gap had 139 points total last season as opposed to a whopping 162 points so far this season (keep in mind this season isn’t even over yet). This is Sparta had 123 total league points last season compared to 153 this season. Based on my actual scores and how I placed each night, I “should” have 69 league points. Sixty-nine, dudes!
There were more qualified league teams heading into last season’s venue tourney at OG than there are now, which would explain why the top teams this season wound up with so many more league points this time (fewer teams competing with them).
I’m still calling for Mind the Gap aka Big Heads Big Hearts to win the venue tournament this time. No major surprises. I’m happy the “gap” between the two top teams is pretty slim! It’s never any fun to see one team completely blow away every single other team in the bar! There’s nothing I love more than spirited trivia competition – and “winnable” trivia spots where you don’t need a megateam to even have a shot at winning a prize. Which are a couple of reasons I continue to play here! That and, well – I’m a small town girl at heart – though the one I grew up in is quite a bit smaller than Milan, MI!
There is another reason I like playing here…recently the trivia host Lauren said she likes that me and my team pose a “challenge.”
“Somebody’s got to challenge (Mind the Gap) besides the Spartas,” she said to me. Challenge accepted! 🙂
Two more games to go! With the days getting shorter and weather continuing to get more…weathery, it’s going to get rougher and rougher for me to be able to go to OG games. As I’ve said before, a surefire sign of spring is when you see your first ‘Pods sighting at Original Gravity! Though it’s definitely not as awesome as the groundhog seeing his/her shadow…or not seeing his/her shadow? Gah, I don’t know the difference! What’s the good thing – a groundhog seeing a shadow – or not? And I think I’ll just leave this photo here!

This is from my personal collection – a groundhog at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI.
