And To Think We Almost Skipped a Halloween Trivia Night…

For some strange reason, I wore a purple and green outfit today. Purple and green are my trivia team’s signature colors. I kind of mentioned in passing the idea of hitting up a trivia night on Halloween since the possibility of having some Halloween themed questions would be…highly possible. But I didn’t really push for it or anything.

My husband and I both had today off from work. Also, we met 26 years ago today at a Halloween party in Mt. Pleasant, MI! Today, we went for a little walk in Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, MI (I wanted to search for Richie Streicher’s grave – and we both wanted to take in some awesome fall colors). We also visited a local Metropark in Dexter, MI. Here are a couple of shots from our cemetery walk…

I could not believe all of the YELLOW LEAVES!

Gravesite of an Ypsilanti, MI boy who was murdered in 1935 (no one was ever convicted). I’m reading a book about this case right now. [SPOILER] I am fairly certain his mother did it.

After hitting up my folks for some Halloween candy, we went to a barbecue joint called Boneheads in Willis, MI for a couple of happy hour drinks in the vain hope of seeing ghosts (the place is reportedly haunted, and no, we didn’t see any ghosts), and we got a text from our friend Brad, who said he was going to a local watering hole for some drinks. We had planned to go there, too, and so it was planned that we would meet for drinks.

So we showed up for drinks at the Corner Brewery, and I was absolutely ASTOUNDED. There were PLENTY of parking spots available at about 6:30 p.m.. ON TRIVIA NIGHT! Usually the parking spots are all filled up by 6:30. Meh, what the hell, right? So I go inside, and (gasp) there are LOTS OF EMPTY TABLES! Usually on the trivia nights, if you’re not there by 6 p.m., well…no table for you (says the “Table Nazi”)! So I stood there at the door for a minute, and stroked my beard a bit (I don’t actually have a beard, so I stroked my pretend beard), saying “Hmmmm” to myself. There is an emoji for this…

I almost pitied the trivia host at the sight of this half-filled room. Should I sign my team up to play? Or shouldn’t I? Well, I didn’t think TOO hard about this – I claimed a table, and signed us up. Trivia night, ho! The other two guys in the equation didn’t protest too much, either! Turns out 21 teams showed up to play in total, so he was probably only a few teams shorter than usual!

We had a pretty good night considering it was just the three of us – we logged 153 total points and we got both final questions correct! We only managed to earn a $5 gift card as a prize in game two, but were only edged out of money in game one by ONE point! We gave the $5 prize to Brad, whose birthday was Tuesday (which means we don’t have to buy him a birthday drink).

All in all? It was a pretty good day! And I didn’t even have to use my AK! 🙂
