I’ve called off the game tonight at Original Gravity. Now that things are getting busier for me at work and I’m starting to work Fridays again, it’s getting a bit more difficult to play the Thursday trivia nights. Unsure at this point if Thursday trivia nights will be put back on the “menu” for the remainder of this season, but I do plan to be at the venue tournament Nov. 15 – even if it won’t be possible for my team to be in contention for a tournament spot. I will want to be a spectator and see how this game shakes out – though in light of recent tragic events (the sudden death of a good player on the This Is Sparta team – IMHO she was the “brains” of the team), it’s not likely to be too much of a surprise which team winds up winning the spot. What will be a surprise is which team actually ends up GOING to the tournament in early December! Sometimes the team that winds up qualifying at OG doesn’t actually wind up being the team that goes to the tournament.

I’m happy to be done with competitive trivia. The more relaxed overall attitude has been great on all counts!  I won’t rule out being a sub on another team if they needed one for a tournament or semifinal game, but I’m considering myself retired from being a “trivia cap’n.” No more hustling players for games, tournaments, anything.  If I can find a spot that at least 2-3 players are willing to play on any given week, that’ll be how we roll from now on – no matter where/when that is. I’ll still play the solo games when I’m able to get out…and take the car – without the car’s co-owner complaining too much!
