It’s the last day of my lovely vacation, and I’m going to take this moment at Tim Hortons to talk a bit about relentless forces. Hurricane Katrina. Me trying to win a trivia tournament spot. And then there’s Ithaqua. AKA as “He who walks among the waste,” this Lovecraftian monster is better known to Native Americans as a Windigo, or a cannibal monster. Eats to gain the strength of its victims.
Speaking of eating, we had dinner at one of those LJS/KFC combo joints last night. When a hush puppy craving calls, ya gotta accept the charges! Prompt service, got our food quickly. Funny, about a year ago we visited similar joint in Staunton, VA. Waited so long for our food we wound up getting refund. Probably a good thing, since that VA joint was so filthy we wouldn’t have wanted to eat anything prepared in the kitchen, but I digress!
Ithaqua is also a symbol of winter and cold, which brings me to my point…Jesus…what is UP with this wind? Couldn’t do a fire last night, and the winds show no signs of abating. Had to be 40 mph winds Monday- we bundled up and hiked around Tawas Point during the day, but heavy winds by a campfire ain’t no fun..
We still had a very cozy night in our heated cabin, and watched some episodes of Buffy.

Fuzzy pants!
Angel just had sex with Buffy, which made him happy enough to lose his soul ( which a gypsy curse restored to him 100 years ago or so to punish him. So now he’s a galloping murderous asshole, and Buffy has to kill him. She will end up sending him to Hell later, but it’s all good because he will get his soul restored, and more importantly, his own series.
Next season we get to meet Faith (played by Eliza Dushku). Can’t wait!
I plan to do a trivia game tonight at Tower Inn. Also plan to do recap of last Thursday’s game at OG. I’ll close this post with a sunset pic from town last night…
