My husband and I recently decided to give up a Monday night trivia spot (Powell’s Pub) after another player on our team said he wasn’t digging the trivia scene. There were a few reasons WE weren’t digging the trivia scene there either, so we decided “Lets just fuck it.”
Tonight? We almost wished we’d went out for trivia instead!
Since we didn’t go out for trivia, we visited another watering hole tonight (Corner Brewery), that is “usually” one of our favorite watering holes. And it was all day happy hour today, too! This bar was serving up its “live music Mondays.” And tonight’s music SUCKED! After having two drinks, we decided to… abandon ship. The music tonight was depressing AF, and the two artists on the stage had no cohesion, incorporated WAY too much reverb in the music (and really, there is only so much vibraphone most human ears can take in one music set – beyond the Violent Femmes’ Gone Daddy Gone, I mean really…). You should NOT be a “Debbie Downer” when you’re on a live music stage! Are we clear on that? Good! Had we stuck around we might’ve asked to stick our heads in the gas oven in the kitchen or asked for their sharpest kitchen knives so that we could cut open our wrists (yes I’m being a little dramatic). But it was THAT bad! So we visited bar #3…not a trivia bar, not our normal “favorite” watering hole, either. But a decent bar with cheap “yellow” beer after 9 p.m. (Aubree’s). The Steelers/Buccaneers game was showing, so we figured “What the hey?”
Interesting development…this place no longer allows their whole upstairs area to be used by “Steelers Nation” fans during Steelers games. Yes, they have been given the pink slip! This comes as good news, especially for folks whom have been “kicked out” of their little “Honeycomb hideout.” Bar staff didn’t like them. Pretty much nobody liked them, unless they happened to be Steelers fans who were already part of their little “clique.”
Ha ha, my husband is singing “No more Steelers Nation” as I type this! Hoorah!
