I’m still truckin’ along on my state populations/facts “megablog.” I got through all of the letter “N” states today, so I only have a dozen or more (give or take) to go! Just to give some of you a “taste,” here’s some cool stuff I learned just by looking at a silly report I did in the fifth grade and following up on some of the facts I put in my report by using the Google (which is something I did not have the option of using when I was 11):

- “Moonbows” are a huge thing in Kentucky. They even have a schedule for them!
- The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is still the longest continuous bridge over water in the world, though the longest bridge in the world is a railway bridge in China. Lots of the biggest, tallest things are in China. Are they compensating for something? Inquiring minds want to know!
- The Annapolis state capitol building in Maryland is the oldest state capitol building still in use.
- New Hampshire’s fall colors are AMAZEBALLS…(see above photo)
- New Mexico’s Palace of the Governors is the oldest continuously occupied public building in the U.S. And I remember this being a trivia question (a “money” question, of all things) that someone told me about before.
- North Dakota has underground coal fires that have been burning a really, really long time. Even Lewis and Clark noticed this…
I hope to have this published by Monday or Tuesday! My “regularly” scheduled trivia game Monday has been called off because of some sportsball game or something (oh the humanity)…the next trivia game I have “planned” is Wednesday. As always, thanks for reading! This blog I’m working on now is truly a labor of love! And most importantly, the names of the most populous cities in the U.S. just might wind up taking up residence in my brain!
