It’s official! I’ve talked this out with my “better half,” and I think we will be cooling things down a bit at Original Gravity Brewing Co. this coming season. We will still be playing there from time to time, but I will not be putting forth any kind of real effort to “win” this bar for tournament purposes. If we try to “win” any Sporcle Live bar, it will be Oscar’s Sports and Grill, but even there we will not be able to play every week. Evan still likes playing at Oscar’s, so I’ll do my best to keep this venue alive for his sake, since he loves the chance to play in the league championship (he’s a competitive lad, gotta love him).

This all started with me not feeling like going to trivia last night. And it spiraled from there…Not only did I not feel like going out for the game, but the thought of going to the game actually kind of filled me with dread. Can’t quite explain that one – but it was what it was. And I had to answer for those feelings. They were there for a reason.

I feel like it’s a good time to step down to see what other opportunities might open up if we’re not playing at OG like driven bastards. I’m a firm believer in the theory, “If one door closes, another door opens.”  If this ultimately means we don’t wind up with a Sporcle Live league championship spot at the end of things? I can live with that! We haven’t been shut out of a Sporcle Live “finals” since 2013. I feel a bit better about focusing more of our energies into qualifying for the MTL semis/finals this season. We’re not in a very strong position starting out at Powell’s, so I may need to pull some tricks from my sleeve to make sure we don’t get edged out of semifinals! 😉 This may mean skipping some OG games and adding some MTL games. I like to hedge my bets!

Please note, this DOESN’T mean we won’t be playing at OG at all this coming season! Oh yes, we will be playing there! Maybe not every single week. Come on…why would we want to make things TOO easy for the other teams? And since I know some of these other teams probably hate us a bit (can’t say that I blame ’em), why would I want to deprive them of THAT pleasure? If nothing else, it’s fun to beat up on the ‘Pods, isn’t it? Sigh…if I only knew what THAT was like! I’ll bet it’s kind of fun! I’m a firm believer in sharing the pain, LOL!

I feel this is the right thing to do…but you know what they say about the road to Hell, good intentions and all that jazz! I’m willing to take that risk…Trivia on, and be excellent to each other! God it was SO nice to take tonight off and just chill in the beer garden and not have to answer questions in a stuffy room! There will be plenty of time for answering questions in a stuffy room on Saturday. Go Pods!
