I’m not going out for the Original Gravity Brewing Co. Sporcle Live game tonight. After taking a break from playing there tonight, I will re-evaluate how I feel about continuing the season there when next week’s game rolls around. I’m leaning toward not putting a lot of effort in qualifying this season and trying to win a spot in the Sporcle Live league championship Dec. 1.

My husband’s ears pricked up when I said I didn’t want to play tonight.

“Are you feeling all right? Are you just too tired from work?”

I said jokingly, “What, do you want to take my temperature, too?”

“Yes,” he said.

Truth be told, I have kind of a busy day lined up Friday. After doing my early shift at work, I’ll have to be at the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival around 4 or so to help my dad serve a charity dinner (all proceeds from it will go to local charities), so I’ll be slinging Italian food for a couple of hours. Fitting in time to write a game recap after work tomorrow is going to be tricky. Plus, I have a MTL tournament Saturday so it’s probably a good idea to give my brain a little rest before that “money” game.

Other truth be told…I’ve already put a lot of effort into successfully qualifying my team for two different seasons at Original Gravity – in July, 2017 and July, 2018. Maybe it’s time to step back a bit and let the other teams enjoy our absence. Which I’m… sure they will! 🙂 The weekly games Mondays at Powell’s will continue as planned, and also the occasional games Saturdays at Oscar’s. Regular games this season at OG will be a question mark for now. Maybe I’ll just schedule games there when I have at least three players available to play. Will our absence make the other teams’ hearts grow fonder? Not likely! I always thought that was a silly expression. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” makes absolutely no sense. Your absence just makes other people eventually forget about you. And maybe that’s a pretty good idea! And I’m definitely not feeling particularly fond of people right now in general. Certain people more than others…I need to clear my head of some of the ugly thoughts I’ve been having.

I haven’t decided anything for sure about OG yet. All I know is trivia is not happening for me tonight! Check in late Saturday afternoon for a recap of Saturday’s tournament game. Though I may wait until Sunday to publish it. It all depends upon how my team performs! If we get a little “celebratory” I may be too drunk to write anything Saturday! However, if we do so poorly we feel compelled to drown our sorrows, then I’ll… also be too drunk to write anything! It’s not that I’m incapable of writing when I’m drunk. I just don’t like writing the trivia recaps under the influence! Hey…I have SOME standards, after all! Plus there was that one time I fell asleep in my recliner while I was trying to do a trivia recap….

For another “truth be told,” I’ll be happy just to get THIS tournament out of the way! August has been INSANE…Sporcle Live league championship, MTL semifinals, now MTL finals. It may really be a good time to step back a bit when all of this is said and done!
