Here’s a follow-up to my recent post about being disqualified from prizes in a trivia game game for phone use, which was posted on my trivia team’s Facebook page:
Thanks to all of the trivia hosts and players who commented on our recent post about being disqualified from prizes in a recent trivia game for using a phone after our final question answer was handed in. The purpose of the post was to find out if other trivia players ever do similar things during trivia games (which apparently, they do) and whether or not they have been called out by other trivia hosts for this. One player said they had been called out for this. It was very interesting to learn about how many trivia hosts absolutely HATE when players use their phones to look up answers after they have handed in their answers! We would not have known this had we not gotten all of those comments!
Long story short, what happened was we forgot this particular house rule regarding phone use at Powell’s, and he called us out on it. It wouldn’t be the first time we forgot something important during a trivia game!
It also wouldn’t be the first time we didn’t hear something on the mic that we should have heard (sometimes bars can get a bit noisy, go figure). Perhaps on that particular night we expended so much brainpower trying to think of popular restaurant chains from a decade in which we had not been born that it made us forget that using phones during final question time – whether slips have been handed in or not – is strictly verboten at Powell’s. Lesson learned. It’s not something we’ll likely forget again! Though I’m sure it won’t be the last time we will forget something important during a trivia game!
Thanks again for all of the input. Now to move on to doing some more “fun” trivia posts on this page! I played by myself for S&Gs at a Sporcle Live venue tournament game Wednesday at Arbor Brewing Company. I was there simply to see the questions, and find out which team would get the coveted league championship spot (which was team Money Badgers). I plan on having a recap of that game posted sometime today! As always, Go Pods, and stay classy…Us!
