We finished the My Trivia Live season Monday at Powell’s Pub. No prizes, had 65 points going into the final question, which we missed. But when the answer was revealed? We were all like…”Why the hell didn’t we think of that?” It was in the category of “restaurants,” in one of these (in Ann Arbor) I had a late-night dinner with my folks and a family friend after a Billy Joel concert at Crisler Arena way back in 1984 (just before my 12th birthday). This restaurant chain also had motels – one of which my husband and I stayed in during a Virginia trip last fall! Oh what the hell, I’m not making y’all scroll to the bottom of this post to read this final question (inverted pyramid..it’s journalist slang)! Here’s that final question:
With its name associated with its restaurants alone for more than 90 years before expanding the brand, what was the largest restaurant chain in the U.S. throughout the 1960s-1970s, with more than 1,000 combined co-owned and franchised outlets?
First off, we tried thinking back to that time in our respective lives – Mike and I were born in the early ’70s, so we couldn’t remember what restaurants were popular in the ’60s! We thought about a fish ‘n chips chain that used to be huge but then kind of died, and moved onto our next idea. We also thought about a drive-in chain, but abandoned that idea. Brad was born in the early 1960s, so he thought of a restaurant chain that evolved into a frozen food line, and we put that as our answer. Though we weren’t confident enough to wager more than….zero.
While you all are thinking of the answer to that one, here are some more questions to chew on!

Next week is a “bye” week for MTL, so we will not be playing at Powell’s next Monday. It’s also a “bye” week for Sporcle Live, so no game for us at Original Gravity, either! If the trivia “itch” needs to be scratched…then you’ll see a game recap the next day! The only trivia-related thing that MIGHT happen next week could be a “Face the Music” game on Tuesday, if my trivia “pardner” is available! As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Henry the VIII!
