Why Watch The World Cup If The U.S. Isn’t In It? Hot Female Soccer Fans (Of Course)!

soccerfanmeme.jpg

It’s 8:10 a.m. on a Wednesday morning, and I’m watching Portugal vs. Morocco in a World Cup match. International superstar Christiano Ronaldo has already scored goal #1 in the fourth minute. This will be Portugal’s only goal in this match, which is, essentially a victory for Morocco to hold him to only ONE goal!

There’s not much excitement in the United States for this World Cup, mainly because the U.S. failed to qualify this time. But this doesn’t mean that the…20 or so “true” soccer fans in this country aren’t going to be tuning in and enjoying “the beautiful game” anyway! I know I am!

Just to clear things up, though I am a soccer fan, I’m NOT a sports fan. You can even read more about that in this blog, which I don’t think has been read yet. Please read it when you get a chance. It will explain quite a bit! Even though I’m not a sports fan, I don’t hate sports (I think each professional sport has good things about it).

Though I’m not expecting anyone to suddenly become soccer fans after reading this blog, here I go with reasons to tune into the World Cup even if the U.S isn’t in it…

Reasons to watch World Cup soccer

  1. It’s “kind of” like the Olympics, except it’s just one sport – the athletes are all at the top of their games – and representing their countries (not football clubs).
  2.  The action never stops, and they only do commercials at halftime.
  3. Who to root for if not the U.S.? Whomever you want! Are you an “underdog” type of person? Root for an African or Asian country! Senegal has been playing quite well, and Japan, too.  Want to root for someone in same division as the U.S.? How about Mexico, Costa Rica, or Panama? Panama qualified for its first-ever World Cup in 2018.
  4. Expect the unexpected. Injuries in star players can throw off expectations, and f— ups by players during games can do that too. Japan absolutely TROUNCED Colombia 2-1 on Tuesday after Colombia had a red card in the fourth minute forcing Colombia to play one man down (the second fastest red card scored in World Cup history). My World Cup bracket is SO f–ed…but hey…if my bracket’s going to be screwed up, I WANT an Asian or African team to do it! I would LOVE to see a non-European and non-South American squad win it all this time. As my dad said to me the other day, “You’re an underdog kind of person just like your mom, aren’t you?” Yup!
  5. Soccer is a game of precision. There is no better chance to see that precision than by watching a “set piece.” Free kicks, corner kicks and especially… penalty kicks. A few goals have already been scored in this World Cup in set pieces. The absolute best thing to watch in this game is a penalty kick shoot-out, which happens to decide tied games in tournaments, pitting players vs. keeper in a one-on-one battle. There is absolutely no more intense moment in soccer. It’s like a Wild West gunfight, except…no guns or cowboy hats. You just have to imagine the theme song from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly playing while the shootout is going on.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saves a penalty kick shot by Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid to win a UEFA Champions League semifinal match in 2012. Any goalkeeper who has to face THIS man in a penalty kick situation has to have nerves of steel!

Sigh…OK, if you want a REAL reason to tune into the World Cup? And I’m writing this under the assumption that most of my blog followers are male… Some of the female soccer fans ARE SUPER HOT! ESPECIALLY the ones from Brazil! I may not root for Brazil when they are playing (pffft…showoffs), but their female fans? They might as well be their own Brazil tourism video! But there are also some very “watchable” female soccer fans from all over the world!  And to round out this blog, here are some photos of female soccer fans from all over the world (I think the Belgium girl is my favorite and I think one of these photos might be of Paris Hilton…or her doppelganger)!
