I occasionally like to do “all women” lineups for trivia games. I even played regularly with another woman for a few months in 2016 as kind of a “spin-off” experiment under the name “Generation Double X,” which has since been unofficially shortened to “GDX.” If the person who suggested the abbreviation is reading this, it was a GREAT suggestion (it’s so punchy)! The name is kind of nod to both “Generation X,” which I’m part of, and women’s double X chromosomes. It’s also kind of a nod to the punk band that Billy Idol served as frontman for before embarking on his successful solo career.

So when is this exciting event happening? Thursday, June 21 at Original Gravity. So far I have myself, Kimberly and Kirsten (both from the Sparty On league team), Angie, who has previously played with the More Beer Less Pants league team (she also played with me at the 2016 games…our roughly 10 year age gap proved to be a boon on many questions). I’ve also invited a woman named Linda from the Corn Fritters team (which has disbanded), and Angie may bring a female neighbor. Linda has put herself down as a “maybe,” since she said she already has plans that night.
Speaking of age gaps? Angie was born in 1983, and Linda was born in the 1950s! Kim, Kirsten and I are all “Gen X’ers,” so this should be an interesting mix of players! Though I love playing with “the guys” on my team, sometimes it’s kind of nice to have a little break, too. I tried suggesting that they do an “all guy” trivia night before, but they refuse to play without me (gotta love ’em)!
