WordPress has informed me today that I’ve done 1,000 posts, so I guess that means that this one is #1,001. What does the number 1,001 make you think of?

It makes me think of “1,001 Arabian Nights,” which, based on a very cursory look at the Wikipedia page, is about a serial killer or something. This guy Shahryār (in Arabic شهريار) learns that his wife cheated on him, so he marries a succession of virgins, killing each one of them the next morning before they have a chance to dishonor him. Kind of disturbing, isn’t it? Obviously, after all of these murders, he has trouble finding more virgins, until a king’s daughter, Scheherazade (in Arabic شهرزاد) agrees to sleep with him, and keeps Shahryār  up telling him lots of stories, which postpones her execution. Nice strategy, keep ’em talking to keep ’em out of trouble! How many nights does THIS go on? You guessed it – 1,001!

I started this blog in 2011 as a vehicle for writing about some of my visits to the various craft breweries in Michigan. Then I kind of abandoned the blog until late 2016, when I started to post past and current recaps of trivia games on here. In addition to the trivia recaps, my own trivia questions and “study topic” blogs, I’ve also posted opinion pieces, travel blogs, and even recently, a couple of food blogs.
