Trivia Recap – April 6, 2018 – (Sticks Venue Tournament)

Congratulations to One is the Loneliest Number for winning the Sporcle Live venue tournament Thursday at Sticks! We did not play in this game, but a couple of us showed to be on “stand by” in case one of the teams playing needed our assistance. Turns out they had enough players, so we wound up just chilling with some drinks and enjoying the experience of hearing trivia questions we didn’t have to answer! And, in this case, we particularly enjoyed hearing ONE particular trivia question.

Here’s a question that managed to vex every single team in the room Thursday:

“What actor has delivered the following quotes: “I have my temporary driver’s license and my astronaut application form. I didn’t pass that though. I failed everything but the date of birth,” and “I call it performance art, but my friend Ariel calls it wasting time. History will decide.”

I recognized the last quote instantly, since it’s from one of my favorite movies and features one of my favorite actors. So while I looked around the room and saw all of the blank stares and brainstorming, I kind of blurted out, “Oooh, I know this one!”
It’s hard to hold back that kind of enthusiasm sometimes! I’ve been on the other side of the trivia coin FAR too often, and have been the one making the “duh” face on countless, countless questions. Being the only person in the room making an “o” face instead of a “duh” face was…kind of cool (I’m not gonna lie)!

A still from the movie that featured the second movie quote (L.A. Story).

And here are the rest of the questions…Since I didn’t play and my team wasn’t in contention, these are just the questions, so no scores…(I was enjoying being kinda lazy).

Game Two
1. TV Themes – What TV show had the lyrics, “You’re Not the Boss of Me,” and “Life Is Unfair?” Mike was really, really hoping the question would be about “Mr. Belvedere,” though my hope was that it would be about “Punky Brewster.” Neither of us got our wish…still knew this one, though!

#1 stumped us. We didn’t think of the correct bird as being a “bird of prey,” but more of a scavenger.
I actually did write down scores for the second game, there were 14 teams…and the top ten of those scores ranged from 37 to 63, with One is the Loneliest Number (featuring four players, which means…four is the loneliest number?) in first. Trump 2020 was right behind them with 61.
Final Category – Long Serving Politicians
Name one of the three men who have served the longest as Speaker of the House.
Mike and I came up with two different answers, mine was right. so who knows if we would have gotten this had we played?
OITLN held onto their lead and took it all…first place prize, venue tournament champions! We’ll be playing Saturday to see if we can get our own coveted venue tournament spot! Until then, Go Pods, and stay classy, The Phantom!
