Trivia Recap – March 22, 2018 – Corner Brewery

Editor’s note: I was not in attendance at this trivia game from March 21, 2018, but a rival team called Your Resume Sucks supplied the questions. I “played along” to see how I did on these…

Special thanks to Your Resume Sucks for typing up the questions from Wednesday’s Sporcle Live game! I’m going to “play along” to see how I do, I will say “yay” or “nay,” or some variant thereof to indicate whether I know these. And here…I…go!
Game 1
1. Food
What food product is most notably associated with the Brands Hebrew National, Nathan’s Famous, and Ball Park?
All disputes between men need to be settled with contests involving the eating of these, lol…yup.

Yup.
6. More Seals
What eight-letter “P” word refers to a carnivorous, semi-aquatic marine mammal such as a seal, sea lion, or walrus?
Yup. Our team “zoologist” Brad would be proud that I know this, lol…
7. Explorers
What Norwegian explorer was the first person to indisputably reach both the North and South poles?
Nerd point: name either decade in which he first reached the poles? Know the guy, but would have missed the bonus, again, teammates would probably know more about this. BTW…did y’all know he DISAPPEARED? How cool of a fate is THAT for an explorer? He probably died doing what he loved, which means freezing his ass off, running afoul of a polar bear, having his rotting corpse nibbled by a walrus, or drowning. All respectable “explorer” demises! I personally want to die in a battle with a Yeti, though I know I don’t get to fill out a form and choose that or anything!
8. Sound Effects
Audio Question, the sound effects heard in the following clip are taken from a scene in what 2000s animated film?
Uh, no clue…I’m going to guess WALL-E?
9. Housewives
The Real Housewives of Potomac focuses on the personal and professional lives of women who live in which U.S. State?
I’m guessing Virginia. Nope, miss.
10. Holidays

Mystery Round: Who is the Oldest
M1. Of the current SNL cast members Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Colin Jost?
M2. 1990s Sitcom comedians Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, and Kelsey Grammar?
M3. Notable Olympians Michael Phelps, Linsey Vonn, and Tara Lipinski?
M4. Classic Rockers Eric Clapton, Steven Tyler, and Ozzy Osbourne?
Missed #2. Yes I really did google all of these birthdates to confirm my guesses! The things a trivia player will do, lol…
Final Category: 19th Century Plays
Oscar Wilde completed writing five plays during the 1890s, his most prolific period as a playwright. Name any one of those five plays.
I would have been able to name one, but not more than one…
Game 2

Enlightening the World is the last part of the official name of what major landmark?
Miss.

Nerd Point: Who is the current WWE Champion?
I don’t know wrassling stuff. But Mike, John and Brad might have a shot at this one.
6. Decorations

Wasn’t Robert Taylor in Duran Duran? No wait, that was JOHN Taylor. Yeah, miss…
John-john-taylor-duran-duran-22619021-439-410.jpg
Duran Duran’s John Taylor. Though Duran Duran was insanely popular in my youth, I was honestly never a huge fan. Though I do like the song “Rio.” What a challenge THAT one was to sing on expert mode in the “Rock Band” game! You have to be able to belt out the chorus spot-on and be able to handle the crooning, too.
10. Snack Foods
First sold in 1966, what caramel popcorn and peanuts snack food briefly replaced Cracker Jack at Yankee Stadium in 2004, before public outcry led to a reversal?
No. Idea…
Mystery Visual: Dolls
For International Women’s Day, Mattel announced 15 new Barbie Dolls in their “Shero” and Inspiring Women” Collections.
 visual32118
Forgot name of the woman in pink, though it was probably “hidden” in my brain somewhere, lol.

Scheduled to be released in June 2018, the upcoming film sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again features three performers who have won Academy Awards in acting categories. Name those performers.
Would not have been able to name all three…
