And so another Sporcle Live season is “almost” in the books…

The regular Sporcle Live season drew to a close Saturday for us at Oscar’s Sports and Grill in Saline. We finished in first place at the venue, which I am just reporting as statement of fact, NOT as any kind of a brag (really, it’s not a brag…at all)! Our team just happened to play the most games there! This place was definitely the least competitive of all the places we’ve ever played in nearly six years of playing. At the season’s end, only three league teams are qualified to play in the venue tournament next week, one of which is the barhop team One is the Loneliest Number, the other is More Beer Less Pants. The latter team has been dividing their “army” and playing in both the central and west divisions this past season. I think the legendary Chinese general and tactician Sun Tzu (author of “The Art of War”) would probably give a “thumbs up” to this “divide and conquer” strategy! Our team has also been waging its own little “ground war” by attempting a southern “invasion” in Milan at Original Gravity Brewing Company, though we only played the minimum seven games. We made a mid-season decision to attempt to qualify there just so we would have two tournament options (this is a strategy that has worked for us in past seasons). It will be interesting to see how everything shakes out at the venue tournaments next week! Which team will qualify at the always competitive Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery (aka Corner Brewery)? Ennui? Your Resume Sucks? Sabretooth Crotch Crickets (this team formerly played at the Wurst Bar)? Don’t Forget to Strip Your Bartender? Will the virtually unbeatable team Teamy McTeamface be defeated in the venue tournament at the YpsiAlehouse? Will Slick Rock Rumble at Johnny’s Grill in Belleville finally get their shot at the league championship, or will You’re Killing Me Smalls get the spot? Which team will win the tournament spot at Original Gravity? I’ll try to keep y’all in the loop the best I can next week! And if I am able to “sit in” on any of these games in which we are not in contention, I will do so, otherwise I will have to depend upon my trusty “field correspondents” (you all know who you are). Stay tuned, I’ll have a recap of Saturday’s game posted in just a bit!
