Poor Wednesday is not taking the news well!
It’s time for a “Wednesday” update! We have four more games to play before this Sporcle Live season is done, two more at Original Gravity, and two more at Oscar’s Sports Grill. Apparently we’ve chosen to play only at trivia spots this season beginning with the letter “O,” lol… We’ll play Thursday at Original Gravity, and again next Thursday at its venue tournament, and ditto for Oscar’s on Saturdays. But we are eyeing one of these spots more seriously as a qualifying spot than the other 😉 We feel we’ve become enough “fixtures” at OG there to want to throw out hats in the ring for this game! We’ve played a few seasons here, and managed to win a tournament spot there last season, and about a year ago, came very close to finishing in the top spot, finishing in second with just one player representing the team! There is some sentimental attachment to the place. We did play at the very first game at OG in March, 2016, in which there was a nasty snowstorm! Speaking of snowstorms, we’re really, really hoping a snowstorm does not rear its head on the day of the Sporcle Live league championship (Dec. 2)! If we see Ithaqua roaming around while we’re driving out there, we might be best off turning back and heading home! Who’s Ithaqua? He’s basically a Lovecraftian cold monster, whom you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark alley, or anywhere else, for that matter! All Lovecraftian monsters are pretty f—ing scary.

Come into my parlour, boy, said Ithaqua to the fly…
A snowstorm would definitely make for a rough go for players traveling from as far away as the outer reaches of the west division, including Traverse City (2 hours 51 minutes per Google maps),or Milan (about 1 hour 33 minutes per Google maps). Holland is also about 90 minutes away. Our Google-estimated commute is about 1 hour 9 minutes. No, we’re not happy finals have been scheduled even farther away than 59 West, where they have been played the past few times. And 59 West was a pretty long haul, especially if a car accident jammed up traffic for hours! But when the new season begins in January, we can “vote with our feet” and perhaps take a look at a trivia spot to conquer in the central division for a change! Choices are great, aren’t they?
🙂
